This personal project is the definition of practicing what you preach. Designed and lived in by the founder of Abode Above Interiors, the Angelou House is a warm, expressive, and curated reflection of what happens when color meets culture with intention.

Each space balances bold design elements with high-functioning comfort. From the grounded richness of clay and ochre tones in the primary suite to the graphic contrast in the foyer, this home is a love letter to Black artistry, family heritage, and modern creative living. Custom art walls and sculptural lighting bring personality and drama to otherwise open, airy rooms. Woven textures, brass accents, and organic elements layer in softness and soul. This home was designed as both a sanctuary and a canvas—proof that color, pattern, and personal storytelling can coexist with practicality. Every piece has meaning, and every detail invites you to stay a little longer.
